Frequently Asked Questions
How much will counselling cost?
For individuals the fee is £50 per 50 minute session. If paying this amount would be a problem, please contact me anyway to discuss whether any concessions could be made in relation to your circumstances. The most convenient way to pay the fees can be discussed when we meet.
Some health insurance companies are willing to fund counselling with a BACP registered accredited counsellor so if you have health insurance it would be worth checking with the company whether this could be an option for you.
What time do you offer appointments?
It can be helpful for some clients to have a regular appointment time but for some life /work circumstances mean that some flexibility is needed so I can be flexible when it comes to appointment times in these circumstances; daytime or evening appointments could be available. I also offer counselling via online platforms and by telephone.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the nature of your difficulty, some people find short term counselling (up to 6 sessions) helps them to deal with pressing issues, however others value more long term support and opportunity to make changes at a deeper level over a longer period of time, if this is the case, at regular intervals, we will review how we are doing together and whether you wish to continue or move towards ending our work together.
Do you offer counselling/therapy to trainee counsellors?
Yes, I welcome trainee counsellors and offer a free first meeting to discuss your individual counselling needs as a trainee. Concessions available for trainees.
What is the next step?
If you contact me by email or telephone we can discuss a mutually convenient time for your free 20 minute telephone consultation or an initial session , for you to get a sense of how we might work together for you to get what you need from counselling. If you are happy to then proceed, we would book an assessment, for which a fee is required, which will help us to further explore how your difficulties are impacting your life and what you want from counselling. If it seems to both of us that working together would be beneficial to you we would then discuss how many sessions to book.
Where would I come to for counselling?
I have sole use of a designated therapy room outside of Weymouth, DT3 area with an off road parking area free of charge.
